  • Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe: The Boston Bruins are also looking to lock up Zdeno Chara to a contract extension. The 33-year old Chara will be a UFA at the end of the season, and is reportedly looking for a deal that will take him to about his 40th birthday. Chara’s current deal has him at a $7.5 million cap hit, and could be looking for something similar. A 7 year, $50 million deal could get it done, that would average out to about $7.14 million per season.
  • Stephen Harris of the Boston Herald: “My goal,” said Chara, “is not to shoot to be playing at 40, it is to shoot to play maybe until 45.” Chara talks about his time and Boston and how he’d like to stay.
