Rumors II: Anderson, Tootoo and AHL Alignment
  • Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen: Craig Anderson’s new three-year contract extension doesn’t include a no-trade or limited trade clause. Anderson could become a trade target at the trade deadline if the Senators are out of the playoffs and a team is searching for a No. 1 goaltender.

“Every negotiation is different,” said Dorion. “We felt it was important that there was no type of (no trade) clause in the contract.”

  • Josh Cooper of the Tennessean: Cooper notes that though Jordin Tootoo is still looking for a new contract, the former Predator probably wouldn’t be a good fit for them.
  • Dhiren Mahiban of Pro Hockey Talk and Dave Cantlon of Howlings.net: The Denver Cutthroats and Arizona Sundogs have suspended their CHL operations for this year, and could be joining the AHL in 2015-16. The Cutthroats would be the affiliate for the Avalanche, with the Sundogs being the affiliate for the Coyotes. The AHL could be looking to create a Pacific division to help make it easier on Western based NHL teams. The Kings will have a team in Ontario (CA) and the Sharks will be moving their team to Fresno (CA). The Ducks could also be buying an AHL team and move them to San Diego (CA). The Jets could be moving St. John’s (NL) to Thunder Bay (ON). Cantlon suggests the Canucks could move from Utica (NY) to Abbotsford (BC) the Oilers from Oklahoma City (OK) to Bakersfield (CA) and Flames could move from Glens Falls (NY).
