Roenick Retires

Veteran center Jeremy Roenick made it official on Thursday and announced his retirement after a 20-year NHL career.

This is a sad day for hockey writers. Jeremy Roenick was one of the more entertaining interviews in the NHL for the past 2 decades and was a great player too.

With all the younger players being coached on how to deal with the media from their junior days forward, we can expect a steady diet of cliche answers and “i play for the name on the front of my jersey” type responses most of the time.

I would like to salute J.R. on a stellar career (despite never winning the Stanley Cup) and look forward to seeing him in a broadcast role of some kind in the future.
