Injury updates

Charlie Roumeliotis: Chicago Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton on Kirby Dach (concussion protocol) who skated for the first time yesterday since the concussion: “Good that he could get out there. Not going to get too excited about it, but it’s not a bad thing. We’ll just see how the next little while plays out.”

AJ Haefele: Colorado Avalanche forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare is day-to-day with a lower-body tweak.

Defenseman Nikita Zadorov is making steady progress.

The Avs are hopeful that defenseman Erik Johnson will be ready for opening night.

Ansar Khan: Detroit Red Wings forward Frans Nielsen left last night’s game with a lower-body injury.

Coach Jeff Blashill said he tweaked something but he will fine for opening night.

TSN: Montreal Canadiens forward Ryan Poehling has a concussion and will be out indefinitely.

They believe he suffered the concussion on Wednesday after a hit from Dryden Hunt.

Forward Michael McCarron has a groin injury and will be out for about six weeks.

Dan Rosen of NHL.com: New Jersey Devils forward Taylor Hall played in his first game since December 23rd.

Curtis Pashelka: San Jose Sharks coach Pete DeBoer said that Radim Simek is still skating and could join the main practice group soon. He is listed as day-to-day and is questionable for their opener on October 2nd.

Girardi retires

TSN: Defenseman Dan Girardi announced his retirement from the NHL. He was a free agent.

Girardi played in 927 career games for the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

DeAngelo signs

Frank Seravalli: The New York Rangers have re-signed RFA defenseman Anthony DeAngelo to a one-year contract at $925,000.

NHL and officials reach a tentative deal

Pierre LeBrun: Source saying the NHL and the on-ice officials have reached a tentative four-year agreement.
