Connor McDavid injures leg early in final game of the season.
Connor McDavid injured early in Game 82

Paul Kukla: Edmonton Oilers and NHL fans alike had to feel a bit squeamish. Connor McDavid’s left leg hammers right into the post. Consider the speed at which the center skates and it took several minutes to get him off the ice. McDavid placed zero weight on the left leg. Obviously, he did not return Saturday night and now the wait to see the prognosis. Early X-rays were negative for what it is worth. MRI expected on Sunday or Monday.

Sean Monahan under the weather again

Derek Willis: Monahan fell ill once more and was held out of Saturday night’s finale against the Edmonton Oilers. The expectation is that the center will be ready for Game 1 later this week.

Josh Morrissey hopeful for Game 1 of playoffs

Michael Clinton: Morrissey will be held out of Saturday’s finale against the Arizona Coyotes. However, he looks hopeful for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He has six goals and 25 assists in 59 games this season for the Winnipeg Jets.

Milan Lucic misses the final game

Edmonton Oilers: Lucic deemed out for Saturday night’s game versus Calgary with a lower-body injury. It caps what has mostly been a lost season for the forward.

Timo Meier held out on Saturday; looks good for Game 1

Paul Gackle: Meier’s wrist kept him out of Saturday night’s game against Colorado. Fortunately, it was an injury that he could play through if this was a playoff game. That leads to speculation of a Game 1 return for Meier.

Paul Byron sat out on Saturday

John Lu: Byron had been bothered by the pesky wrist injury for some time. One could see it every time he wound up for a shot. The only question is can this rest on its own or will the wrist need surgery.
