Jim Matheson: “Nobody knows Maroon better than Jon Cooper, his first jr coach, so this is a very good pickup by Tampa. They’re quick but small and definitely needed a bigger body.”

Lou Korac: “As much as it would have been a good story for the hometown Maroon to stay in St. Louis, a) there just wasn’t sufficient money to give him and b) #stlblues have younger guys (Blais, Sanford, MacEachern, Kostin at some point, etc) that will garner more of that ice time.”

Lou Korac: “Having said that, #stlblues will sure miss that big, puck protecting, physical, net front presence Maroon brought in second half of season/playoffs. Such a great story for him to come home and help franchise win first Cup.”

Hall back skating

New Jersey Devils: Devils forward Taylor Hall (who hasn’t played since late December after knee surgery): “I feel really good, it’s been a long process not playing a game for that long.. But being back on the ice and being able to play at a pretty high intensity feels really nice.”

Bruins injury updates

Connor Ryan: From speaking with Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney.

Defenseman John Moore will not be ready to start the season as we recovers from shoulder surgery.

Defenseman Kevan Miller will be back on the ice soon but there is no timeline on when he is expected to return.
