Injury notes

Jimmy Murphy: Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara said that he may not be ready to start the season.

“I think I should be, but it’s a process of making sure there are no setbacks or any discomfort.”

Andrew Gross: New York Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck on his recovery from back surgery: “At the start, we’ll just see how it goes. As far as re-injury or having it happen again, probably, from what I understand, I’m at the same risk I was before. Barring any injury, I should be normal.”

Mark Spector: Edmonton Oilers forward Kyle Brodziak is expected to miss this season due to back issues. It’s expected that he’ll be on the LTIR for the season.
