NHL injury updates

Craig Morgan: Arizona Coyotes goaltender Antti Raanta is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Goaltender Darcy Kuemper is sore.

Lance Lysowski: Both Conor Sheary and Johan Larsson are listed as day-to-day, but both were on the ice yesterday.

Chip Alexander: Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour said that forward Ryan Dzingel is feeling better but will be longer than day-to-day.

Michael Smith: Hurricanes defenseman Jake Gardiner didn’t practice yesterday. It was more of a precautionary move, Brind’Amour: “We’re not taking chances on any of our guys right now.”

Eric Engels: Montreal Canadiens head coach Marc Bergevin isn’t sure if forward Ryan Poehling will get clearance to play on Saturday. He practiced yesterday in a no-contact jersey.

Chris Johnston: The Philadelphia Flyers announced that forward Nolan Patrick has been diagnosed with a migraine disorder. He is listed as week-to-week and won’t be traveling with the team to Europe.

Wes Crosby: Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan said that forward Alex Galchenyuk is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Ken Wiebe: Winnipeg Jets head coach Paul Maurice said that defenseman Sami Niku remains day-to-day with a groin issue. He did skate yesterday but won’t be able to play in their preseason finale on Sunday.

Bruins sign Petrovic

Cap Friendly: The Boston Bruins have signed defenseman Alex Petrovic to a one-year, two-way contract. Petrovic had been in camp on a PTO. He’ll get $700,000 in the NHL and $375,000 in the minors.

Sharks prospect gets traded

Darren Dreger: San Jose Sharks 2018 1st round pick, Ryan Merkley, has been traded from the Peterborough Petes to the London Knights. He will join the team today.

Ryan Pyette: The Knights sent a 2022 3rd round pick and two conditional picks of value to the Petes for Merkley.
