Dallas Stars Mattias Janmark
Stars re-sign a couple of pending UFAs

Mark Stepneski: The Dallas Stars have re-signed defenseman Roman Polak to a one-year contract extension worth $1.75 million.

Dallas Stars: The Stars have re-signed forward Mattias Janmark to a one-year, $2.3 million deal.

“Mattias is a relentless forward who combines his tremendous skating ability with sound positioning, making him a disruptive force,” said Nill. “He is a versatile player that can play up and down the lineup at even strength, and was one of the key members of our penalty killing group, which was a top-five unit all season.”

Sean Shapiro: The signing of Polak and Janmark doesn’t really alter the Stars salary cap situation when it comes to any potential larger moves – aka Mats Zuccarello.

Stephen Whyno: There is no update on any contract talks involving Zuccarello.

Jets lock up a couple more of their free agents

Scott Billeck: The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed forward JC Lipon to a one-year, two-way contract with a cap hit of $700,000.

Bill Whitehead: The Jets have signed forward Seth Griffith to a one-year, two-way deal.

Mike McIntyre: The Jets have nine UFAs, and can see maybe re-signing five of them – Tyler Myers, Brandon Tanev, Ben Chiarot, Par Lindholm and Cam Schilling. UFAs likely not returning are Bogdan Kiselevich, Alex Broadhurst, Matt Hendricks and Nic Kerdiles.

Red Wings lose a prospect for five to six months

Halifax Mooseheads: Detroit Red Wings 2018 second round pick Jared McIsaac will be out for five to six months after having shoulder surgery in Detroit Thursday.

McIsaac had been playing through the injury for most of the second half of the season.
