  • Chris Stevenson of the Toronto Sun: One NHL scout has said that the Maple Leafs have been testing the waters with Phil Kessel’s name. “I was kind of surprised to hear his name as a possibility, but Kessel’s available,” the scout said. Another scout had heard his name mentioned, but others hadn’t. In an email, Burke “vehemently denied” that he was shopping Kessel.
    Capitals GM George McPhee has said to be dangling Alex Semin.
    The Avalanche are looking to a guy like Jonathan Bernier to be their ‘goalie of the future’.
    John-Michael Liles is available and Stevenson thinks the Avs may be able to get a 1st round pick.
