Leafs shopping Kessel? Capitals dangling Semin … Souray on re-entry waivers … Blues looking to shed salary
  • Chris Stevenson of the Toronto Sun: One NHL scout has said that the Maple Leafs have been testing the waters with Phil Kessel’s name. “I was kind of surprised to hear his name as a possibility, but Kessel’s available,” the scout said. Another scout had heard his name mentioned, but others hadn’t. In an email, Burke “vehemently denied” that he was shopping Kessel.
Capitals GM George McPhee has said to be dangling Alex Semin.
The Avalanche are looking to a guy like Jonathan Bernier to be their ‘goalie of the future’.
John-Michael Liles is available and Stevenson thinks the Avs may be able to get a 1st round pick.
The Canadiens may have an interest in JP Dumont, but rumor is he won’t waive his no trade to go to Montreal or anywhere else.
  • Will DePaoli via twitter: The Blues are looking to shed some salary, notably Brad Boyes. Patrick Berglund is also in play.
  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Flames GM Jay Feaster on adding someone before the deadline, “Yes, if we can add in a way that makes sense, and by that I mean part of it will depend on the pricing,.”
  • Sean Leahy via twitter: Jordin Tootoo has been cleared to return to the Nashville Predators by the league and PA.
  • If I were the Penguins I’d settle with two deals with the likes of Neal, Stafford, Setoguchi, Higgins..
Brunette and Stilman are more likely though. Too bad Malkin and Crosby aren’t healthy.

  • I highly doubt Kess will be traded. Burke dished out 2 first rounders for him. He’ll never get that same offer back. Burke has also said many times he doesn’t regret the trade and by trading him that would pretty much go against his word. Burke is too proud to do that.
