The Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenseman Alexander Petrovic from the Florida Panthers for defenseman Chris Wideman and a 2019 3rd round pick.

The 3rd round pick is the higher of the Oilers pick and the New York Islanders 3rd round pick. The Oilers previously acquired the pick from the Islanders for Brandon Davidson last year before the deadline.

The 26-year old Petrovic was drafted 26th overall in the 2nd round of the 2010 draft by the Panthers. He carries a $1.95 million salary cap hit.

The 28-year old Wideman was drafted 100th overall in the 4th round of the 2009 draft. He carries a $1 million salary cap hit.
