Ken Wiebe: The Jets have spoken with free agent goaltender Steve Mason this week. He has multiple teams that are interested in hiim.

Ken Wiebe: The Jets are thought be one of the 12 teams that have talked to free agent defenseman Dmitry Kulikov.

Scott Billeck: Kulikov’s agent said “about a dozen” teams have inquired about Kulikov. His agent didn’t name the teams but did say  “Winnipeg is certainly a team that Dmitry would be happy to play for.”

On the Columbus Blue Jackets …

John Shannon: Blue Jackets John Davidson said that they have held only preliminary talks with Ilya Kovalchuk‘s agent. They are interested.

Aaron Portzline: The Blue Jackets are looking for a top-six talent and you can’t rule out Ilya Kovalchuk, but they may be looking for a center and Kovalchuk might not be the right player to go after.

Aaron Portzline: Blue Jackets pending UFA forward Sam Gagner has spoken with five or six teams including the Blue Jackets. He could make two visits later on in the week.

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Freidman was on Sportsnet 960 talking about the Columbus Blue Jackets and their acquisition on Antemi Panarin. They have basically said they are going to take a run for the next two years and they could be looking for another scorer.

“I think Columbus is out looking for one more scorer. I think they’re hanging around Kovalchuk. I think they’re going to try to see if they can get someone else, and then they’ll circle back on him.

“I think Columbus is sending a message that they’re going for the Stanley Cup in the next two years – big time.”
