The Chicago Blackhawks and Vegas Golden Knights could be talking trade involving Marcus Kruger
On the Vegas Golden Knights and the Chicago Blackhawks …

Frank Seravalli: There will be lots of Vegas expansion draft trade rumors coming up soon. One potential possibility that is looking that it could be likely, though not a 100 percent done yet is …. the Blackhawks allowing the Golden Knights to select defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk in the expansion draft but if they take forward Marcus Kruger in a trade.

Frank Servalli: The above could also be flipped … the Golden Knights draft Kruger in consideration for also getting van Riemsdyk. Regardless, both players have been linked to Vegas.

Frank Seravalli: The Blackhawks used a similar move last year when they included Teuvo Teravainen to get the Carolina Hurricanes to take Bryan Bickell’s contract.

  • The Blackhawks currently sit just over $4.5 million over the next year’s cap, which CapFriendly has listed at $73 million. The Blackhawks currently sit at $77.52 million for 22 roster players and bonus overages of over $3.55 million.
  • The 25-year old van Riemsdyk has one-year left on his deal at a $825,000 cap hit. He’ll be a restricted free agent after next season. He appeared in 58 games this past season, recording five goals and 11 assists.
  • The 27-year old Kruger carries a $3.083 million cap hit for the next two years and will be an unrestricted free agent after. He has a modified no-trade list that kicks in this year in which he can name seven teams that he cannot be traded to.
