Flyers and Konecny still not close

Dave Isaac: Contract negotiations between the Philadelphia Flyers and Travis Konecny continue.

Don’t get the sense that they are close to a deal . GM Chuck Fletcher is on record of saying that things can change quickly though.

Avs won’t react off of Marner’s deal, but it may cost them more now

Adrian Dater: Have been told that the Colorado Avalanche won’t be “reacting” off of Mitch Marner‘s new contract when it comes to dealing with restricted free agent Mikko Rantanen.

Adrian Dater: Marner’s deal may not be good news Rantanen negotiations but we’ll see. The Avs will likely have to pay more now.

Mike Chambers of the Denver Post: Today’s market after Mitch Marner signed his big deal could put Mikko Rantanen around $10.5 million per season.

Boyle still getting interest but teams need to make a move first

Brian Hedger: Have been told that their are a couple of teams that are interested in signing forward Brian Boyle but they are needing to clear some salary cap space to sign him.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have the salary cap space to sign Boyle, and have heard that he’d be interested in playing for coach John Tortorella again, but the Blue Jackets want to look their younger options first.

Scott Burnside of The Athletic: Brian Boyle awaits a contract offer for this season. He had been skating on Forxboro.

There are as many as five teams that might be interested in Boyle if they can make it work, including the Nashville Predators, Florida Panthers and New York Rangers.

Each of those teams needs to make a move(s) before being able to fit him in.

“As far as I know, there’s real interest from a couple of teams and dominoes need to start falling,” Boyle said. “Gridlock needs to be shaken loose. It’s unprecedented. I believe it’s unprecedented.”
