Is $6.9 million the number for Nylander?

Marc Savard: Hearing that $6.9 million a season would get a deal done between the Toronto Maple Leafs and William Nylander according to a source.

Marc Savard: Believe that term is one of the issues they are having in getting a deal done.

Mark Masters: Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock on Thursday on the Nylander deadline that is approaching: “I’m confident, hopeful. I mean, Willy loves hockey (shrugs). I know Willy good. He’s a great teammate & a good person & he loves hockey. He wants to play hockey, you know, so I’m betting on that.”

There are lots of unhappy GMs and they are trying to make a move

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1040 and was asked if he thinks there will some more trades in the upcoming weeks.

“I think there’s lots of teams trying,” indicated McKenzie. “It’s always hard to predict whether or not we’re going to get results on trade talk. I think trade talk has ramped up significantly across the league.”

McKenzie wonders that with so many teams within five points of each other, does it help or hinder trade front.

There are some unhappy GMs that are trying to make a move.

“I don’t really have an answer to that, other than I know that there’s a lot of general managers talking about a lot of different deals. And especially a GM like Jim Rutherford has been trying for a while to do some stuff, and he obviously did with Hagelin for Pearson, and he may not be finished on that front.

“But there’s lots of unhappy GMs, whether they’re in L.A. or Pittsburgh or Chicago, some of the venerable teams that have been ‘salary cap dynasty teams’ are in the mode to try and get something done.”
