Could the Toronto Maple Leafs and St. Louis Blues be talking trade?
Maple Leafs free agent William Nylander on contract talks

TSN: Toronto Maple Leafs restricted free agent forward William Nylander on how contract talks are progressing.

“Ya, I know, I mean it’s going with Kyle, I mean he wants to take it slow. So, I mean, you can ask Kyle.”

When asked if he’s okay with a bridge deal or if he’d rather have a long-term deal.

“That’s between my agent and Kyle. I mean they are talking about it, so I’m not really into that right now. I mean once it gets closer to the season I think I’ll be more dialed. I mean it’s, Kyle said it’s going to some time, so I’m not really stressed about it.”

Maple Leafs and Blues talking trade?

Howard Berger of Between the Posts: A source is saying that the Toronto Maple Leafs and St. Louis Blues “have recently kicked trade tires.”

The Maple Leafs are looking for a big-time defenseman, with the Blues looking for some offense.

Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas may be looking at 25-year old right-handed Colton Parayko, who has four years left on his deal at $5.5 million.

The Blues are fairly deep on the blue lines, with the Maple Leafs having depth upfront.

The Leafs would not make forward William Nylander available, but would a package of defenseman Jake Gardiner and winger Andreas Johnsson be enough for the Blues to move Parayko?

The 28-year old Gardiner will be a UFA after this season. The 23-year old Johnsson scored 26 goals in the AHL last season, and recorded 24 points in 16 playoff games for the Marlies.
