NHL Rumors: Scouting The Leafs, Nylander’s Agent Has Talked To Other Teams, And A Stealth Team To Watch
Could the Philadelphia Flyers become a stealth team interested in William Nylander?
Scouting the Maple Leafs and Stars

Michael Augello: There were 15 scouts listed to attend last night’s Toronto Maple Leafs – Dallas Stars game. The Carolina Hurricanes sent three including assistant GM Rick Dudley. The Chicago Blackhawks had two scouts listed to attend.

Nylander’s agent has spoken to other teams

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Pierre LeBrun was on TSN 1050 and said that one GM he spoke with said that he’d pay William Nylander $7 million a season, but doesn’t think that this GM would be in on any trade talk with the Maple Leafs.

No teams are going to trade for Nylander unless they are able to sign him to a deal first.

“Now, my understanding is Lewis Gross, the agent for Nylander, has had direct communication with teams because he’s allowed to. William Nylander is a free agent. So it’s not as if there haven’t been teams at least doing their due diligence that way.

“But again, I don’t have any proof yet that there’s a contract out there that a team believes it can get done with William Nylander. Not that I know, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not the case.”

A stealth team for Nylander could be…

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Friedman on his 31 Thoughts podcast said that the Philadelphia Flyers are a team that isn’t mentioned a lot when it comes to potential William Nylander trade talks, but they are a team that has the pieces that the Toronto Maple Leafs could be interested in.

“So who have we mentioned. We’ve mentioned – if Toronto gets to this point – we’ve mentioned Los Angeles, we’ve mentioned Minnesota, Carolina definitely – they’re all over the place there – but I really do believe that a stealth team that has what Toronto would want would be the Flyers.”
