The Toronto Maple Leafs could be in the market for another goaltender

TSN: Toronto Maple Leafs are without goaltenders Frederik Andersen and Garret Sparks. They traded for Michael Hutchinson last week and would like Kasimir Kaskisuo to continue to develop in the AHL.

The Maple Leafs could now be in the market for a goaltender.

“I don’t know what’s going on, we were just talking about maybe finding another goalie,” Babcock said, per the Toronto Star. “We’d like (Kaskisuo) to get playing, we don’t want him to be sitting around. So maybe we’ve got to find another goalie and go from there.”

The New York Rangers have three pending UFAs that will interest teams

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Darren Dreger was on NBCSN and was asked about the New York Rangers. Dreger thinks the Rangers will trade pending UFA forward Mats Zuccarello before the February 25th trade deadline.

“Mats Zuccarello has been an excellent New York Ranger. He’s a quality leader inside that room, on the ice as well. At 31 years of age, he has room left to deliver some pretty good hockey.

“But not the direction the New York Rangers would be going in to sign him.”

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Dreger said on NBCSN that Rangers forward Kevin Hayes will also be getting interest from teams.

“And in saying that, the New York Rangers haven’t decided officially on whether they are going to trade Kevin Hayes because Hayes is valuable to the New York Rangers now and in the future. But it’s all dependent on what is being offered, the interest that’s going to continue to grow in Hayes and other players leading up to the 25th trade deadline.”

Dreger adds that the Rangers will monitor the interest and if they get a good offer they could take it. If not, they’ll continue to look at signing him to an extension.

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Dreger on NBCSN said that teams will be interested in pending Rangers UFA defenseman Adam McQuaid. If he can remain healthy, teams will be interested in the right-handed defenseman who brings size.

Teams may like the added “depth and it’s nice to have a little bit of bite and physicality in your lineup.”
