Quick notes on the Coyotes, Oilers, Red Wings, Senators and Maple Leafs

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet:  The Arizona Coyotes had looked at ways to add another center after the trade deadline because of injuries. European free agents and trading for players on AHL contract are the only ways, and that deadline is a week after the NHL trade deadline.

Several executives told Edmonton Oilers CEO Bob Nicholson to take as long as it takes to name their next GM. could see the Oilers asking Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland what his future plans are.

Christopher Ilitch when asked about Steve Yzerman.

“There’s not a lot I can say about that, other than I know his contract is expiring this summer. We’ll leave it at that.”

Potential Ottawa Senators coaching candidates include Marc Crawford, Jacques Martin, Michel Therrien, Alain VigneaultBrad Shaw, Mike Yeo, D.J. Smith, and Troy Mann.

There had been some talk the Toronto Maple Leafs could promote Rasmus Sandin because of injuries but it’s not sounding like that would happen now.
