The Boston Bruins open to anything with their first-round pick, and they have an interest in NY Rangers Chris Kreider
Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe: Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney is open to trading his first-round pick, or moving up or down.
“I’ve had conversations over the last seven days,” noted Sweeney, who flew here in the early morning, just hours after being recognized as the GM of the year at the league’s annual awards ceremony in Las Vegas on Wednesday. “Obviously, we have until , and it might even be during the draft, to tell you the honest truth — because that’s when guys are like, ‘We know there’s a guy there.’ So we have had the discussions. We are just planning that we are taking our pick, but I have certainly put things in motion that if somebody wanted to move in a different direction, then we may as well.”
New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider may be an ideal fit in the Bruins top-six.
Kreider has a year left at $4.625 million and could cost a 1st round pick, player and a prospect to acquire.
Would the No. 30 pick, a prospect like Trent Frederic and maybe another draft pick – 2020 2nd rounder – work?
Kreider is a left winger, so Jake DeBrusk may have to move to the right side.
Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports: Sources are saying the Boston Bruins have a strong interest in NY Rangers Chris Kreider. He’s the type of forward they need if they can get him at the right price.
Cam Neely has said in the past.
“What do we need moving forward or next year? Yeah, well, obviously I know it’s been talked about at length about another top-six forward, so we’ll see where that ends up.”
Would their 2019 first round pick a prospect like Anders Bjork work if they can get it done tonight? If not done in time, their 2020 first and a prospect.
