John Tavares is still deciding
On John Tavares …

John Shannon: “On the Tavares front…Dialogue between CAA (in LA) and JT (in Toronto) continues. There has been continued talk with the 6 teams over the past 72 hours…as of 10:30 this morning some teams have been eliminated…but calls to those teams have yet to take place.”

Darren Dreger: “Tavares, family, CAA and all involved still discussing and processing the options this morning. Speaks t”o how difficult this decision is.

On David Perron

Darren Dreger: Perron is going through possibly as many as five contract offers today.

On Patrick Maroon

Darren Dreger: As many as six teams are interested in signing Maroon.

Pierre LeBrun: Don’t think that Maroon is committed to any team yet as he’s still getting calls, but there could be a top-six fit in New Jersey or Calgary.

On Michael Grabner

Pierre LeBrun: Michael Grabner’s agent is still talking to several teams.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Darren Dreger: Mike Green will be re-signing with the Red Wings. They will likely be signing Jonathan Bernier tomorrow. Forward Thomas Vanek is considering signing with the Red Wings.

Craig Custance: Bernier’s deal is expected to be for three years at around $3 million per season. Green’s deal is expected to be for two years between $5.25 and $5 million per season.

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Scott Powers of The Athletic: Multiple sources saying that it’s unlikely that the Blackhawks will be signing pending UFA James van Riemsdyk.

A source added that the Blackhawks would have needed to clear salary cap space.

The Blackhawks are still looking to move Marian Hossa‘s contract. If they can’t move Hossa they can put him on the LTIR, but can’t until the season starts.

There are reports that they are still interested in Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk and it’s not known what the Hurricanes would want in return.

Have been rumors that they may be willing to move center Artem Anisimov who carries a $4.55 million salary cap hit. He is expected to give the Blackhawks his 10-team trade trade list by Sunday.
