From what has heard, the Stars felt their meeting went well, but sounds like everyone else felt that way to. Stars think they have a good chance if Tavares decides to leave New York.
On Kyle Brodziak …
Mark Spector: Free agent center Kyle Brodziak will narrow his down to three teams today. There is a very good chance that he could sign with his hometown Oilers. They Oilers drafted him in the seventh round in 2003.
Jonathan Willis: “Brodziak was dealt at age 25 by the Oilers, for a pittance, in order to clear room for others. He’s a good example of why sometimes it pays to grab a young mid-20s forward who doesn’t have traction with his current team.”
Jonathan Willis: “Which, ironically, is the reason there are guys I think might be better fits for the 4C role in UFA. Brodziak is a solid player and can do the job, but he’s 34. Someone like 25-year-old Nick Shore is my preferred bet, just because there’s a chance a guy like that surprises you.”

Sportsnet 650: Nick Kypreas on the radio: “We all can do the math here in the salary cap era and understand that there’s only so many ways you can divide a pie. If Tavares goes to the Leafs, then Nylander would be the logical guy to move out. You can’t have four guys making $7M – $11M. You need balance.”
Sportsnet 650: Kypreos was asked about the chances that Nylander could end up in Vancouver: “I think very good. You’re going to have to flip one of those guys, we assume Nylander, for a defenseman. I think Chris Tanev would be a good starting point for a deal built around him.”
