NHL Rumors: Scouting PHI-NJ, CGY-BOS, BUF-TB … Flyers and Penguins
Derick Brassard

Scouting the Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils …

Dave Isaac: Scouts listed to attend last night’s Flyers-Devils game: New York Rangers, Carolina Hurricanes, and New York Islanders.

Scouting the Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins …

David Pagnotta: As per @ShawnHutcheon, scouts listed to attend last night’s Flames-Bruins game: Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, Vancouver Canucks, New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Ducks, St. Louis Blues, Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, and the Buffalo Sabres.

Scouting the Buffalo Sabres and Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Yerdon: Scouts listed to attend last night’s Sabres-Lightning game: New York Rangers (2), Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, Vegas Golden Knights, Winnipeg Jets, St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks, and the Los Angeles Kings.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Frank Seravalli: Goaltender Brian Elliott is out, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the Flyers checked out the goalie trade market. The Red Wings are shopping pending RFA Petr Mrazek. Robin Lehner and Aaron Dell are two other goalies that could be moved.

Eric Engels: Wonder if the Flyers would look at Canadiens goaltender Antti Niemi now that Elliott could be out for up to six weeks. In his past six games, Niemi has a .929 save percentage.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Dan Kingerski of Pittsbrugh Hockey Now: The chances that Derick Brassard gets dealt to Pittsburgh, let alone anyone else is “fiction-ish”. There are quite a few obstacles to getting Brassard out of Ottawa and to Pittsburgh or anywhere else for that matter.

Brassard is a big-time playoff performer and would fit in ideally as a third line center for the Penguins. However, his salary is a problem. Also, how much would it cost in a trade? Furthermore, Brassard still has a full year on his contract next season. Ottawa can wait on a deal until the summer where a deal could net more of a haul.
