NHL Rumors: Scouting PIT-STL and MON-NSH, Flyers and Senators

It won't be a tear down for the Ottawa Senators

Scouting the Pittsburgh Penguins and St. Louis Blues …

Jason Mackey: Scouts listed to attend yesterday’s Penguins-Blues game: Vegas Golden Knights, Columbus Blue Jackets, New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens, Vancovuer Canucks, and Chicago Blackhawks.

Scouting the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators on Saturday …

Stu Cowan: Scouts listed to attend Saturday’s Canadiens-Predators game: Edmonton Oilers (2), Chicago Blackhawks (2), Washington Capitals (2), and the Dallas Stars.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Bill Meltzer: Even if goaltender Brian Elliott is out for awhile, it’s doubtful GM Ron Hextall will make a big trade for a goaltender. If they made a move, maybe along the lines of Chad Johnson as a rental as opposed to giving up more assets for someone like Robin Lehner.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch: Senators GM Pierre Dorion on the weekend: “We’re going to make good hockey deals and that’s very important for this organization.”

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: The Ottawa Senators are looking to make changes to their roster, but they won’t be tearing it apart.

They are not believed to be interested in trading defenseman defensemen Erik Karlsson and Thomas Chabot or forward Mark Stone. Colin White and Matt Duchene are not on the block either. It would take a big offer for the Sens to move center Jean-Gabriel Pageau.

It would be a surprise if they traded Derick Brassard. Teams have shown interest in forwards Brassard, Mike Hoffman, Zack Smith and Ryan Dzingel.

Defensemen Cody Ceci, Dion Phaneuf, and Johnny Oduya have also drawn interest. The LA Kings have may have some interest in Phaneuf again.

Sources are saying the Tampa Bay Lightning have called the Sens about Karlsson and Ceci.

The St. Louis Blues, New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes, San Jose Sharks, and Buffalo Sabres are believed to have shown interest in Hoffman.

The Calgary Flames, Vegas Golden Knights, and Sharks have shown interest in Smith.

The Sens don’t want to trade Dzingel, but teams are calling.
