Miller a healthy scratch for the first time

David Schoen: The Vegas Golden Knights made defenseman Colin Miller a healthy scratch last night against the Bruins. Interesting points on this are.

“1. The trade deadline is Monday, and it’s not clear if management is holding him out.

2. He’s never been a healthy scratch with the Knights.”

Bruins prior talks

Joe McDonald: The Boston Bruins had been talking to the Minnesota Wild about Eric Staal.

Jeremy Rutherford: The Bruins and St. Louis Blues had talked about Brayden Schenn before the Blues went on their winning streak.

Sabres and Skinner continue to talk

John Vogl: Buffalo Sabres GM Jason Botterill on pending UFA Jeff Skinner: “Both his group and ours have obviously continued our dialogue. We haven’t done play-by-play in the media just because that’s the way we wanted to go about things. Both sides continue to work to try to find a resolution.”

John Vogl: Botterill said that coach Phil Housley‘s job is safe.

Their main goal is to develop players from within.

“We’re always looking to make additions to our group of players, to help our players out. We’re not going to change our model and our focus on trying to bring players in that are going to help this team not only this year but for the future. That’s what we’re looking at.”

Lance Lysowski: Carl Hagelin would have been a nice option for the Sabres but it’s looking like he could be on his way to Washington.

GM Botterill didn’t sound like he’d be making a big move before the deadline.
