NHL Rumors: Red Wings, Islanders, Avalanche, Ducks and Flyers
The New York Islanders are back interested in Matt Duchene
On the Detroit Red Wings …

Helene St. James: The Red Wings had been trying to trade a goaltender but there were no takers. The Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars have filled their goaltending needs.

On the New York Islanders and Colorado Avalanche …

Jimmy Murphy: The Islanders are in on Avs forward Matt Duchene again. Hearing, though not confirmed from sources, that defenseman Calvin de Haan and Ryan Strome could be involved.

Jimmy Murphy: The Islanders are looking to give John Tavares some help and will do all they can to do so. Could see both Jordan Eberle ending up on the Islanders.

Jimmy Murphy: What happens between Vegas, the Islanders, Strome, de Haan and the expansion draft affects what happens with Matt Duchene. The Islanders may also be willing to trade some players you might not expect.

On the Anaheim Ducks …

Eric Stephens of the OC Register: Despite many teams looking for a top-four defenseman, Sami Vatanen wasn’t moved before the trade freeze on Saturday. It’s believed the Ducks have a deal with Vegas to not select Sami Vatanen or Josh Manson but it can’t be announced until Wednesday. Neither players will end up in Vegas.

Injury news – Ryan Kesler had hip surgery and can resume full activity in 12 weeks. He may be limited in training camp but should be ready for the start of the season.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Darren Dreger: Vegas might be interested in talking with Flyers unrestricted free agent during their window. The 25-year old finished strong last season with the Flyers.

Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly: The Flyers and Weal continue to talk according to his agent J.P. Barry, and they aren’t worlds apart on a new deal.

“We’re still negotiating with Hexy,” Barry said Sunday morning of general manager Ron Hextall. “Not that far off.”

They’ve agreed on terms but are still apart on money.

Vegas can speak with Weal, but Weal is hoping to remain in Philadelphia.

“He likes Philly still and hopefully, we will still get a contract done before July 1,” Barry said.
