NHL Rumors: Ottawa Senators – Ryan Dzingel and Mark Stone
The Ottawa Senators could be getting closer to making a decision on Ryan Dzingel.
Dzingel talk this morning

Elliotte Friedman: Have been hearing that things are heating up with Ryan Dzingel today. Teams believe that the Ottawa Senators are getting closer to making a decision.

Darren Dreger: The Senators should be able to get a quality return for Dzingel. Could be ranging from multiple draft picks to a top prospect.

The Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets are among the teams that are interested.

Bruce Garrioch: The Chicago Blackhawks could be in the group of teams that have shown some interest in Dzingel.

Brian Hedger: On Dreger saying that the Blue Jackets are one of the teams interested in Dzingel: “I went back over the Jackets’ stockpile of prospect or rookie forwards, and folks, they are loaded with them.”

Senators still hoping (last night) to get Stone and Dzingel re-sign

Callum Fraser of NHL.com: Senators GM Pierre Dorion is still hopeful to get both Mark Stone and Ryan Dzingel signed.

“We’re still working on convincing a few others to stay,” Dorion said. “However, we have to be prepared for every scenario. We’re confident in our hockey group’s ability, my hockey abilities as a GM to make good trades for the rebuild, and for our fans to see something glorious in the next few years.

“We know this route will be difficult. Every rebuild has challenges, but we want to look at the big picture and our very bright picture.”

Who is interested in Stone?

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1050 and was asked who will take a serious run at Ottawa Senators Mark Stone.

“Well, certainly the Winnipeg Jets,” began McKenzie. “Certainly the Nashville Predators. The Predators had some interest in Matt Duchene, but I think they had a lot more interest in Mark Stone. Calgary Flames, they have interest in Mark Stone. And I think the New York Islanders.

“I’m sure there are others. In the summer, there was every reason to believe that Colorado was really, really, really anxious to either try and do a deal with the Ottawa Senators for Mark Stone, and there was even some talk leading up to the season that Colorado was going to offer-sheet Mark Stone last summer. There was all sorts of rumors of that.”

Friedman isn’t sure where the Avs would sit now with Stone and if just for a rental.

A Stone trade will likely include conditions on if he signs an extension like what the Sens did in the Duchene trade.
