NHL Rumors: Senators, Avalanche and Maple Leafs
Marc Methot and Craig Anderson of the Ottawa Senators
On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: The Ottawa Senators now need to figure out what they need to add to make the next step. They added Alex Burrows, Viktor Stalberg and Tommy Wingels before the deadline. Burrows has already signed an extension. They could bring Stalberg back, with Wingels likely just a rental.

Bobby Ryan have five years left on his deal at $37.5 million and can be exposed for the expansion draft. He has a “no-move” clause but it only protects him from being sent to the minors.

They might have to expose Marc Methot on the blueline unless they ask Dion Phaneuf to waive his no-movement clause and he agrees to it.

The Senators don’t want to overpay RFA forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau.

Mike Condon is a UFA and if it weren’t for his play earlier this season, they may not have even made the playoffs.

Forward Tom Pyatt is a UFA and it’s doubtful that they bring Chris Kelly and Chris Neil back.

On the Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs ….

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 updating the Avs interest in Maple Leafs assistant GM Kyle Dubas.

“I believe the window is closed. I don’t think he’ll be going. And I believe that Toronto closed the window. That initially they were willing to let him go, and then they weren’t. And so I think that’s kind of where it stands here.

“It’s an interesting situation. There was some pushback from Colorado at the beginning in saying that it wasn’t accurate and it didn’t happen. And I think that it’s possible that there were people in Colorado who didn’t know that it had happened.”

Friedman adds that though there was permission, but in the end “Toronto revoked permission and I don’t think he’s going.”
