Erik Karlsson

On the Ottawa Senators and Erik Karlsson …

** Bruce Garrioch: (4:53 PM) “Dorion says he made an offer to Karlsson today.”

Bruce Garrioch: “Dorion says “we start Oct. 4th. We’ve got lots of time” when asked if there’s a timeline.”

Bruce Garrioch: “Dorion won’t discuss the details of the offer” **

Bob McKenzie: (this morning) Trade talks are picking up involving the Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson. There are some teams that are willing to take on Bobby Ryan and his contract, and some that don’t want to take on Ryan.

Bob McKenzie: (before Ryan McDonagh extension) Would be interesting to see how hard the Tampa Bay Lightning go after Karlsson. The Lightning are obviously one of the teams that are not interested in Ryan.

Bob McKenzie: Believe that the Vegas Golden Knights would still have interest in Erik Karlsson and would be prepared to take on Bobby Ryan’s contract.

David Pagnotta: Have been told earlier that there were three teams that were talking to the Senators about Karlsson and Ryan – Golden Knights, Rangers and another team. There were six or seven other teams that are interested in just Karlsson. The Colorado Avalanche and Tampa Bay Lightning have had trade talks involving Karlsson.

Ken Warren of the Ottawa Sun: It’s not known yet what the Senators will offer Karlsson, but if Karlsson doesn’t like it, the Senators will immediately look to trade him.

The LA Kings and Drew Doughty have worked out an eight-year, $88 million deal.

Money aside, does Karlsson want to stay while the Senators go through a rebuild? The Senators will be going younger next year and their payroll will be smaller.
