NHL Rumors: New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets
The Vancouver Canucks and Brock Boeser are talking contract extension.
Rykov undecided

Igor Eronko: New York Rangers prospect Yegor Rykov is still deciding on what he’s going to do for next season.

Canucks and Boeser’s camp talking

Irfaan Gaffar: Have been told that the Vancouver Canucks and Brock Boeser‘s camp have started contract extension talks. It is early in the process and could take some time to worked out, but it is good news.

Rick Dhaliwal: Brian Burke on Vancouver Canucks defensemen Chris Tanev and Alex Edler: “He has been a quality player on bad teams but I think it’s time to move on because of health issues. Same as Edler, both good guys but I don’t think you can rely on these players. I would entertain offers for Tanev.”

Tweetbag of Winnipeg Jets questions and answers from McIntyre

Mike McIntyre: (on the rumored rift that was in the dressing room) “It’s not just a rumour. There were issues, divisions, etc, within the room. Not abnormal for a pro sports team, but magnified here as the losses and frustration piled up. As Paul Maurice said, some “ruffled feathers” need to be smoothed out going forward.”

Mike McIntrye: Getting both RFAs Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine signed before having to deal with any other free agents would be a priority. They need to have some cost  certainty before dealing with their own free agents as well as on/after July 1st.

The Jets priorities should be 1) Jacob Trouba, 2) Laine and 3) Connor

Mike McIntyre: Believe that at this point the Jets may just have to take the best offer they get for defenseman Jacob Trouba as a year from now they are going to lose him for nothing. Getting a young defenseman back would be ideal.

Mike McIntyre: Moving Dmitri Kulikov’s contract should also be a priority. If the Jets are not willing to buy Kulikov out, they’ll need so find some way to move his contract out. They had to give up Joel Armia to move Steve Mason‘s contract last offseason.

Mike McIntyre: Buyout out or trading Kulikov clears out some cap space.

Not re-signing Tyler Myers frees up some more space.

Trading Mathieu Perreault would also create some extra space.

The odds of Ben Chiarot returning to the Jets next season are higher than Brandon Tanev being back.

Mike McIntyre: Trading Perreault should be a priority.

Mike McIntyre: Guess that defensemen Myers, Kulikov and Trouba won’t be back with the Jets next year. Tanev is likely gone as well. Don’t expect much in free agency.
