Cap Friendly: “As correctly pointed out by , the contracts captured below only take into account active contracts. For example, Sidney Crosby signed a 5 year deal in 2008 coming out of his ELC that carried an AAV of $8.7M, which at the time represented a cap hit% at signing of 17.3%”

Andy Piluk: Nick Kypreos reported that Matthews asking price for an eight-year contract was between $15 and $16 million.

Terry Koshan: With is sounding like Matthews extension being close to completion, Mitch Marner‘s agent Darren Ferris said they are still thinking about waiting until after the season for serious contract negotiations to take place. It is possible that things could change though.
