On the New Jersey Devils …

Pierre LeBrun: Devils GM Ray Shero said he’s already received calls about their No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft.

On the Washington Capitals …

J.J. Regan of CSN Mid Atlantic: John Shannon said the other day that the Capitals re-signing T.J. Oshie is all but done. If true, it likely isn’t on a cheap deal.

On the Florida Panthers …

On the Los Angeles Kings …

Dennis Bernstein: Don’t think the LA Kings will make a significant free agent signing or trade. They have to sign RFA Tyler Toffoli and will have to see who they lose in the expansion draft.

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Andy Strickland: Hearing that Czech defenseman Jan Rutta is strongly considering signing with the Blackahawks. Multiple teams are interested.

On the Vegas Golden Knights …

Pierre LeBrun: Golden Knights GM George McPhee is confident that he’ll be trading for more draft picks for this year’s draft.

League notes …

Chris Johnston: NHL is okay with having a flat salary cap for next year. It would lower the players escrow payments. The NHL and NHLPA are expected to meet next week.

Chris Johnston: Tampa will host the 2018 All-Star game which is a really strong sign that there won’t be any more Olympic discussions.

Chris Johnston: Though there are no specifics on rule(s), Gary Bettman said they have “an expectation” that no players that are under an NHL contract will go to the 2018 Olympics.

Frank Seravalli: Bill Daly said that they’ve reached a deal with the NHLPA to increase the amount of time the Vegas Golden Knights have to go over the expansion lists from 48 to 72 hours.
