Biega may not make it through waivers

Rick Dhaliwal: Have been told that there may be a few teams that are seriously considering making a waiver claim on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alex Biega.

No recent talks between the Rangers and Kreider

Colin Stephenson: New York Rangers GM Jeff Gorton on if there have been any recent contract extension talks with forward Chris Kreider: “No, right now, I haven’t talked to Chris or (agent) Matt Keator lately. You know, we have some conversations over the summer, but right now, we’re just to let him play hockey and we’ll let those things work themselves out.”

Would the Sabres interested in claiming Sprong off waivers?

Lance Lysowski: Don’t think the Buffalo Sabres are done with their roster just yet.

Daniel Sprong could be a potential waiver claim. Sprong was a prospect for the Pittsburgh Penguins when now Sabres GM Jason Botterill was with the Penguins.

Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News: The Sabres have their roster down to 23 players at the moment but they could make some changes before their season starts.

Daniel Sprong could interest the Sabres. He has a relationship with Sabres GM Botterill and assistant GM Randy Sexton. The Penguins drafted him in the 2nd round of the 2015 draft.

While in the AHL two years ago for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Sprong put up 32 goals and 65 points in 65 games. In the NHL for both the Penguins and Anaheim Ducks, he’s only been able to tally four goals in 58 games.
