NHL Rumors: Canucks, Red Wings, Leafs and Tavares
Toronto Maple Leafs and John Tavares speculation will be ongoing
On the Vancouve Canucks …

News 1130 Sports: The Canucks are one of the teams that have offered forward Lauri Korpikoski a PTO. Korpikoski will be playing in the World Cup.

News 1130 Sports: The Canucks are not one of the teams that is talking to Kris Versteeg about a PTO.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: (mailbag) The Red Wings talked the Anaheim Ducks before the draft about Cam Fowler. The Ducks may not want to trade Fowler while Hampus Lindholm remains unsigned.

Dylan Larkin should be an untouchable. Trading for a top end defenseman would cost them a high draft pick or prospect, as well as a young, established forward.

On John Tavares

Chris Nichols of Today’s Slapshot: John Tavares is scheduled to be a free agent in two years. Speculation of him returning to his hometown and signing with the Maple Leafs will continue. Tavares was on TSN 1050 and was asked if it would get to the point that he would say to not even think about asking about the Maple Leafs. He said that he’s always said how much he enjoys playing with the Islanders, despite the ups and downs. There are misconceptions about the team and that he hopes to finish his career with them.

“But at the same time, I don’t think you can ever predict the future. But that’s where I want to be, and I believe that’s what they would like to have as well. Hopefully when the time comes, we can extend and get that done.

“So yeah. I mean, the Toronto stuff is always going to be there because being from there and what not. I don’t know. I just try to approach it day-by-day and do the best I can to get better and help my team, and do what I have to do to be ready to play.”
