NHL Rumors: A Carlson Sign-and-trade … Rangers and Zuccarello … Canucks and Sedin’s
What would the cost to acquire John Carlson in a sign-and-trade be?
On a sign-and-trade involving John Carlson

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: Looking a potential sign-and-trade involving Capitals pending unrestricted free agent defenseman John Carlson.

The eighth-year would have to mean a lot to Carlson, and the extra year may help bring down the cap number. Giving up an asset in a sign-and-trade may be the price a team has to pay to get in.

As for what type of asset a team would need to give up, isn’t sure as there hasn’t been a precedent set in a sign-and-trade. thinks that a contender may okay with giving up a low first-round pick or a second-round pick, especially if it’s the only way they are able to get him.

On the New York Rangers …

Justin Tasch of the NY Daily News: The Rangers cleared out some veterans at the trade deadline, and with his name already in the rumor mill at the deadline, could Mats Zuccarello have played his last home game with the Rangers?

“Maybe. I don’t know. You can’t really look at it that way,” Zuccarello said. “I have one year left on my deal and my plan is to be here next year.”

Zuccarello will be 31-years old at the start of next season and has a year left at $4.5 million.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province: Henrik and Daniel Sedin are still undecided on their future. The Sedin’s will look at their play this season, consider theirs and their families wishes and find out the which direction the Canucks are going.

“We’ve had a lot of talks this year between the two of us and with family and different people and we’ll see what happens,” said the winger. “There are a lot of different things. We’ve shown we can still play and if we showed we couldn’t play, that would be the main decision.

“We’ve shown we can and that’s out of the question now. We enjoy being around the young guys, and going through tough times, it’s a good way of learning. We went through it and it makes you stronger mentally.”
