Jesse Puljujarvi and Ken Holland once again

David Staples of the Edmonton Journal recently wrote:  A trade appears to not be the most likely scenario for Puljujarvi. The key appears. Honestly, Puljujarvi has a role carved out for him in Edmonton for the taking. A third-line winger on a speedy trio would be great for the forward to mend fences and score a little.

David Staples: There is a report saying that Puljujarvi’s hometown team of Karpat is interested in signing, but their GM said that there hasn’t been any negotiations yet.

The Ken Holland 2019-20 plan?

Allan Mitchell of The Athletic:  Again, roster construction ahead is a bumpy road for Ken Holland. Decisions loom for the general manager. PTO’s and free agents are available later this summer/Fall which should help. Hey, it worked with Alex Chiasson for Edmonton once upon a time.

Again, patience with a Jesse Puljujarvi will help here. Is his agent still bluffing or posturing? No one knows. Holland dealt with this with Jiri Hudler and it panned out. Edmonton sells at the trade deadline looks likely still. Holland gauging interest then on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and even Adam Larsson is inevitable.

Holland also could buy at the deadline involving players like Mike Hoffman or Jean-Gabriel Pageau perhaps. That could set the 2020 offseason into overdrive. The key is setting waiver eligibles and roster fluidity at this point.

The untradeable contracts…

Ken Campbell of The Hockey News:  After the Milan Lucic trade, the question asked what are still some of the most untradeable contracts? Shea Weber and Brent Seabrook topping any list should never be a surprise. Both are under contract for a long while at a steep price tag.

Then, there exists the Ryan Suter/Zach Parise package deal which could implode sooner rather than later. Those no-move clauses could wreak havoc as soon as this season. Andrew Ladd has been a disaster worthy of a top-two spot for the Islanders. Also, the Kyle Okposo deal for Buffalo soured quickly due to concussion and illness issues.

These are just some of the untradeable. Do not forget a Kyle Turris who is almost expendable in Nashville if it weren’t for his $6 million AAV. Oh my!
