On Ilya Kovalchuk …

Pierre LeBrun: The Los Angeles Kings have shown some interest in Jeff Skinner, but Ilya Kovalchuk is their main priority.

Lou Korac: Don’t see the St. Louis Blues signing Kovalchuk.

TSN Insider Trading: Darren Dreger believes the Los Angeles Kings have made a contract offer for Ilya Kovalchuk.

“San Jose is in the mix, and the Vegas Golden Knights and the Boston Bruins.”

Dreger expects Kovalchuk to make a decision in the next couple days.

Bob McKenzie says that teams are hoping Kovalchuk will make a decision before the draft as he could be holding some other things up.

Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports: It doesn’t sound like the Bruins have made Kovalchuk an offer yet, but they are interested in bringing him in to play with David Krejci. They haven’t had any face-to-face meetings yet.

“We’ve spoken to their camp. We have not met with them in person, but we’ve spoken and had numerous conversations with his representatives about where they’re at. We feel we’re a team he has strong interest in and we’ll see where it goes between now and however long he takes to make his decision,” said Sweeney of the Kovalchuk pursuit. “We’re in a position to explore it. We talked very specifically about our roster with him and where we see him fitting in, and what he brings to the table. We’ll be excited to continue to explore, but I don’t know necessarily where it goes. “

Kovalchuk could be looking for a two-year contract at $6 million season.
