NHL Rumors II: Iginla, Kiprusoff, Briere, Caron, Stastny and Yandle
  • Bob McKenzie: The Flames preferred the deal with the Bruins, but needed Jarome Iginla’s approval. He obviously, chose the Penguins.
  • Eric Francis: Feaster told Iginla that an extension would be shorter and for less money if he stayed in Calgary. Made the decision for Iginla easier.
  • David Pagnotta: Feaster added that the Pittsburgh trade came together during last night’s game. They received multiple offers for Iginla.
  • Dejan Kovacevic: The Flames had offers from three teams according to Feaster.  “Player part of that process” because of no-trade clause. “We’ve traded Jarome to Pittsburgh.”
  • Darren Dreger: Flames GM Jay Feaster went to Miikka Kiprusoff’s agent 10 days ago. His agent said if there is a possible trade to consult Kiprusoff first.
  • Joe Haggerty: Source saying there was a call made between the Bruins and Flyers about Daniel Briere. Jordan Caron and a pick were mentioned, but his concussion ended talk.
  • The Fourth Period: One NHL executive said he doesn’t expect Avalanche’s Paul Stastny to be traded at the deadline. There had been brief talks with the Maple Leafs this season. The Avs would like to upgrade their blueline, and would love to get their hands on Keith Yandle, but the Coyotes would want one of their top young stars in exchange.
