The St. Louis Blues may have been interested in Artemi Panarin, but Panarin may only be interested in playing in a major metropolitan market.
On the Carolina Hurricanes …

Mike Kelly: Contract talks between the Hurricanes and Elias Lindholm have hit a wall. The Chicago Blackhawks are in the trade mix.

On Luke Schenn

Andy Strickland: Defenseman Luke Schenn is looking towards free agency. The St. Louis Blues would be high on his list with a chance to play with his brother Brayden again.

On the St. Louis Blues …

Andy Strickland: The Blues thought the had some deals. “Hard to trade when GM’s pull back when it’s time to execute the deal. This is a carry over from the trade deadline. See if something transpires today”

On the Vancouver Canucks …

TSN Radio Vancouver: Pierre McGuire on potential Canucks trades: “I’ve heard Vancouver in 2,3 different places. One was on a roster player, a defenseman.”

On the Columbus Blue Jackets …

Aaron Portzline of The Athletic: Contract extension talks between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Artemi Panarin (UFA after next season) hadn’t even started and Panarin has stated he not ready for them to begin.

“At the moment, he’s just not ready to make a long-term commitment,” Milstein told The Athletic.

Aaron Portzline of The Athletic: The Blue Jackets would now consider trading him, but teams won’t offer top value without knowing if Panarin would sign long-term with them.

Yesterday there was some speculation that the St. Louis Blues were talking to the Blue Jackets about a potential deal. The Blues have the assets.

It’s believed that Panarin wants to play in a major market, so he may not be interested in signing with the Blues.

Major metropolitan markets may limit him to the Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Vegas.
