Interest in Evander Kane is picking up.
On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Dave Isaac: Flyers GM Ron Hextall on if they will re-sign newly acquired Petr Mrazek: “I have no idea.” Both Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth are under contract next season.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Helene St. James: Defenseman Mike Green said that he’s spoken with GM Ken Holland about a potential trade and added that he’s open-minded about it.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Ken Wiebe: Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff on the trade deadline: “We’ve got lots of assets at our disposal. Some of them will be non-starters with me and some of them certainly will be in play. That will be for me and the GM on the other side of the phone to discuss.:

On the Buffalo Sabres …

TSN: Darren Dreger on the increased interest in Evander Kane of late after the Sabres initial high asking price didn’t interest many.

“Things have picked up this week, no question about that. I believe that Jason Botterill has at least a couple of offers that he might consider but it sounds like there could be more player involvement as opposed to picks and prospects and the Buffalo Sabres are more interested in draft picks or top prospects.”

On the Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens …

TSN: Pierre LeBrun: Penguins GM Jim Rutherford would have preferred to make a deal weeks ago, but he will continue to try to do something.

“There’s been some interest in Derick Brassard and I think that is still there but balking at the first-round pick that we believe is part of the asking price from the Ottawa Senators, so we’ll see where that goes. Tomas Plekanec, again there’s some cap issues in Pittsburgh, if the Penguins can move out a contract there might be some interest in Tomas Plekanec. The question is what does Montreal want to do with Tomas Plekanec, a guy who has always played for the Canadiens. It’s a tough call for Marc Bergevin and it might go to the 11th hour.”
