NHL Rumors: Oilers, Bruins, Hurricanes and Flames
Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Kris Russell
On the Edmonton Oilers …

Chris Nichols: Darren Dreger: “There are whispers that it’s going to be $14 million for Connor McDavid.”

Darren Dreger: (comment on the above tweet) That could be their asking price but it doesn’t mean it’s going to end up there.

Chris Johnston: Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli said that they will match any “predatory offer sheet” if RFA Leon Draisaitl were to sign one.

E.J. Hradek: Hearing that the Oilers will be re-signing defenseman Kris Russell.

Bob McKenzie: The Oilers and Kris Russell made progress on a new deal deal and it could be done today.

Bob McKenzie: It will likely be a four-year contract with a salary cap hit around $4 million. Once the Oilers were able to move Jordan Eberle and his salary, contract talks picked up.

Bruce Garrioch: The Oilers have kicked tires on Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic. He may have been discussed while talking about the Jordan Eberle-Ryan Strome trade.

On the Boston Bruins …

Flutuo Shinzawa: Bruins GM Don Sweeney said that if the Bruins keep their first round pick they are more likely to move back than up.

Fluto Shinzawa: GM Sweeney said they are still looking for a defenseman but are confident in their current group.

On the Carolina Hurricanes …

Tom Gulitti: After the Hurricanes acquired defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk, the Hurricanes are prepared to move a defenseman for a top-six forward.

Pierre LeBrun: It can always change, but the Hurricanes don’t plan on trading any of their top seven defenseman. They want to use their picks and prospects to upgrade at forward.

On the Calgary Flames …

Pat Steinberg: GM Brad Treliving said they aren’t close to making any trades right now. (as of late yesterday afternoon)

Pat Steinberg: GM Treliving said he “would suspect” that they will pick at No. 16. If they make a trade, more likely they would trade down.
