NHL Rumors: Ducks, Jets, Avalanche, Penguins, and Panthers
The Pittsburgh Penguins could have some interest in Carl Soderberg.
On the Anaheim Ducks …

Rick Dhaliwal: Hearing that the Ducks could be interested in Canucks winger Thomas Vanek. The Ducks were one of the teams that were considering signing him this past offseason. Vanek’s agent will be talking to Canucks GM Jim Benning today for an update.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Darren Dreger: The Jets have been talking with multiple teams. They’ve kicked tires on Rick Nash, Mike Hoffman, Patrick Maroon, Mark Letestu, and Ryan Hartman.

On the Colorado Avalanche and Pittsburgh Penguins …

Adrian Dater: Have been hearing that the Penguins have shown some interested in Avalanche center Carl Soderberg. This is likely a fallback option for the Penguins if they are not able to trade for someone Derick Brassard.

Adrian Dater: The Avalanche would have to retain salary if they were to move Soderberg. He has two years left on his deal at a $4.75 million cap hit. The Penguins would need the Avs to retain salary unless they sent back someone like Olli Maatta or Patric Hornqvist.

On the Florida Panthers …

Matthew DeFranks of the Sun-Sentinel: The Panthers are back into the playoff race after winning seven of nine. Coach Bob Boughner doesn’t think that GM Dale Tallon will be making any big trades ahead of the trade deadline.

“We have a lot of guys that we’re trying to build around here and our core,” Boughner said. “I think that if there’s something out there that makes sense, talking to Dale and talking to ownership, it would have to be the perfect kind of deal. I think that we like what we have here and we’re going to build on that.”

Forward Radim Vrbata is the Panthers only pending unrestricted free agent. The Panthers have asked him for his 10-team trade list.

“We’ve got some guys coming through the system, some young guys coming up that are going to be a big part of this,” Boughner said. “I don’t see us making any blockbuster deals at this point in time.”
