NHL Rumors: Detroit Red Wings and the Trade Market
Mike Green and Petr Mrazek
On the Detroit Red Wings …

Helene Elliot of the Detroit Free Press: (mailbag) The Red Wings are in no rush to start selling. The closer it is to the deadline, the higher the prices will get.

Could see a team that is going for it to offer the Red Wings a first round pick for pending UFA defenseman Mike Green. It would be a mid-to-late round first.

There wasn’t a trade market for goaltender Petr Mrazek in the offseason and he hasn’t really done anything to create one this season. Half of Mrazek’s $4 million salary is now off the books.

Ansar Khan of MLive: (mailbag) Andreas Athanasiou and Martin Frk are arbitration eligible this offseason. Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha and Tyler Bertuzzi are not arbitration eligible. The Wings will have $10 million coming off the books – Mike Green and Petr Mrazek.

On the trade market …

Chris Nichols of Fan Rag Sports: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 said that trade talk is starting to pick up. Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion has already come out and said that he has a prospect deal on the table for Mike Hoffman, but is looking for something else at the moment.

Friedman said that the St. Louis Blues are really the team to watch on the trade front. The Pittsburgh Penguins are another team that could make a move.

Buffalo is trying to create a market for Evander Kane. Ottawa is trying to create a bigger market for Hoffman. Montreal with Pacioretty, I think what Bergevin is saying is, ‘We’re not out of it yet, so I’m not giving up.’ But he’s still trying to create.

At the moment there doesn’t appear to be a lot of teams that are willing to do futures.
