NHL Rumors: Flames, Leafs, Sharks, Red Wings and Blues
Kevin Shattenkirk of the St. Louis Blues and Josh Jooris of the Calgary Flames
On the Calgary Flames and Johnny Gaudreau …

Chris Nichols: Darren Dreger on Tuesday on TSN 1040 said that he couldn’t get the Flames or his sources to confirm the reported Johnny Gaudreau numbers, but Dreger was told “it is a boatload of money.”

On the Kris Russell

Platinum Seat Ghosts: Bob McKenzie: “Multiple team talking to (Russell). I don’t believe Leafs are one.”

Platinum Seat Ghosts: McKenzie speculates that Russell will end up signing a one year deal and then go to free agency again next offseason.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Kevin Kurz: From talks with a team source last week, don’t expect the Sharks to bring anyone in on a PTO.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Ansar Khan: Darren Helm said the Red Wings plan is for him to start the season at center on the third line. Riley Sheahan will start the season on the wing.

On the St. Louis Blues and Kevin Shattenkirk

Chris Nichols: Darren Dreger feels like Kevin Shattenkirk is still a trade target, but he doesn’t get the sense there is anything that he’d consider a front-burner scenario for the Blues.

On the St. Louis Blues and Alex Steen

Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Blues forward Alex Steen will be 33-years old in March, and will have his contract expire after the season. Steen hasn’t given the Blues and ultimatum of getting an extension done before the season or waiting until after the season according some speculation.

“I don’t know where that surfaced, that’s not something that’s come from me,” Steen said. “I want to be in St. Louis and the organization knows that. I’m sure we’ll get to it when we get to it, so we’re not stressed about it. Right now, the whole focus has been on the shoulder, getting that ready and getting the group back together again.”
