NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabres – Need Defense and Scoring … Have Kane and No. 8 Pick
The Los Angeles Kings could be one of the teams interested in Buffalo Sabres Evander Kane
On the Buffalo Sabres …

John Vogl of the Buffalo News: The Sabres have been involved in plenty of trade talks, but GM Jason Botterill said they aren’t close to anything.

“It’s a situation where there’s always discussions going on, but to say that we’re close on anything right now, no,” the Sabres’ GM told The Buffalo News on Thursday night. “There’s longer discussions. You’re always looking to try to improve the team, but just like it’s so competitive on the ice, it’s competitive off the ice. You’re working with one team on trying to fix something, but they’re also working on something all the time.

“For it to all come together, sometimes it takes quite a few discussions. It’s not always easy to predict.”

Botterill is looking to add value and build on their depth.

Mike Harrington of the Buffalo Sabres: The Sabres need more help on defense and more scoring. Their No. 8 pick could be in play for the right price.

Would assume the Sabres were one of the three teams that called Vegas about Shea Theodore.

The Wild with Jonas Brodin or Marco Scandella are another team to watch. Would a deal involving Evander Kane work? The Wild have cap issues so maybe not.

Sense that Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula aren’t that fond of Kane and he could be on his way out.

notes that as soon as you trade someone like Kane, you are trying to acquire someone like Kane.

Jimmy Murphy: Things are fluid and could change with regard to Evander Kane, but hearing teams that could be interested include the Los Angeles Kings, Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues and possibly the Dallas Stars.
