NHL Rumors: Kings, Sabres, Stars, and Senators
Team focusing on Sabres defensemen Dmitry Kulikv and Cody Franson
On the Los Angeles Kings …

Dennis Bernstein: From what has heard, doesn’t sound like Patrick Sharp will end up in Los Angeles, and not sure if Thomas Vanek is a fit either.

On the Buffalo Sabres …

Craig Custance: Talk is picking up with the Buffalo Sabres. There are no trade talks on Evander Kane though.

Pierre LeBrun: Think that pending UFA defenseman Dmitry Kulikov and Cody Franson would be the main focus of teams.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mike Heika: For the expansion draft, the Stars will protect Esa Lindell and John Klingberg for sure. Would then be down to Stephen Johns or Jamie Oleksiak as the third defenseman.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Rick Dhaliwal: The Senators were the only team that called the Canucks about Burrows that were offering a contract extension.

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: The Senators acquired Alex Burrows yesterday, and GM Pierre Dorion said that Burrows may have refused a trade to other teams in the Atlantic division.

“He refused trades, to the best of my knowledge, in our division. For him come to Ottawa shows he has faith our team. I think he just didn’t want to be a rental for a few months and that’s what we’ve talked to him about,” Dorion said.

The Senators may not be finished trading yet.

There is speculation that they have been shopping Curtis Lazar for a first round draft pick. A team is believed to have offered a 2nd round pick for Lazar, but it would take more.

“I’m always open for business,” Dorion said. “That win in Florida and New Jersey told me a lot about our team. … If we have to add another piece or two, we’ll look at it. We felt this was something we needed to get done.”
