NHL Rumors: Bruins – Team FA, Nash and Khudobin … John Tavares
John Tavares

On the Boston Bruins …

Shawn Hutcheon: Bruins GM Don Sweeney on their free agents: “I’ve stayed in contact. I think the goaltending one is probably going in a different direction at this point but I’ve stayed in contact with all of them.”

Shawn Hutcheon: Sweeney in Rick Nash: “He needs to take all the time necessary to make whatever decision he wants to make for he and his family. I respect the hell out of the decision that he’s made, whether or not that’s going to change between now and whenever.”

On Anton Khudobin and the Boston Bruins …

Igor Eronko: “Anton Khudobin told difference between his demands on a 2-year contract and what were offering was $150k. He tried to make some concessions, asked to add just $50k, but the team denied request, that’s why he most likely leaves”

On John Tavares …

Maple Leafs Hot Stove: Bob McKenzie on TSN 1050 last night on what he’s hearing with regards to John Tavares.

“I got nothing, and I don’t think anyone does, other than all the same speculation we’ve heard. San Jose and Toronto seem to be the two teams other than the Islanders, but we don’t know that for sure. What I think we know is just the length to which San Jose will go to get this done. I think it’s basically blank cheque time for JT if he wants to go to San Jose. We could be talking McDavid or bigger money to go, if he wants to, on a seven-year deal. They’re selling lifestyle.”

Elliotte Friedman on CHED 630 last night on what he’s hearing with regards to John Tavares.

“The last I checked, nobody had really heard anything yet. He flew back to Toronto yesterday, where he lives. I think he wanted to take some time to think about it. The one thing that has a bit of a deadline here is if he wants to re-sign with the Islanders and get the eighth year, he has to do it by night. That is the one thing that has to happen here.”
