On the move or not

Adrian Dater: heard from a “golden source” that Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie is definitely on the trade block

Adrian Dater: Colorado Avalanche GM Joe Sakic said last night that the Barrie rumors are “news to him.”

Zuccarello to meet with teams

Elliotte Friedman: Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill said they continue to talk with Mats Zuccarello‘s camp about an extension. Nill expects Zuccarello to at last talk with other teams.

Sharks talking with Pavelski and Meier

Pierre LeBrun: San Jose Sharks GM Doug Wilson met with Joe Pavelski‘s agent yesterday. Got the sense that things are status quo. Term still seems to be part of the problem. There is still time for the sides to figure it out.

Frank Seravalli: The San Jose Sharks have been talking with Timo Meier‘s camp since their season ended.

It’s believed they both know what it would take to get a deal done, they just need to get it done. Would help GM Wilson put the rest of their pieces together.

Three Islanders are available for trade

David Pagnotta: New York Islanders defenseman Nick Leddy is available.

David Pagnotta: The Islanders also have Thomas Hickey and Josh Ho-Sang in play.

Capitals waiting for the salary cap to be announced

Tom Gulitti of NHL.com: Once the NHL announces next seasons salary cap number, the Washington Capitals will make decisions on which of restricted free agents to send qualifying offers too.

“We’re going to make a decision here after we see the cap number, after we talk to a couple of these agents further after the cap number,” MacLellan said.

Andre Burakovsky will be their toughest decision. They could qualify him, trade him, or let him become a UFA.

The Capitals aren’t expected to re-sign UFAs Brett Connolly, Devante Smith-Pelly and Brooks Orpik.
