14 – Stan Mikita (1961-62 to 1974-75)
13 – Bobby Hull (1959-60 to 1971-72)
12 – Patrick Kane (2007-08 to 2018-19)”

Guentzel gets a five-year extension

Jonathan Bombulie of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: The Penguins signed forward Jake Guentzel to a five-year contract extension with a $6 million salary cap hit.

“Everyone knows it’s your contract year and whatnot. A little extra stress,” Guentzel said. “Whenever you can get it done midseason and kind of just play, I think it helps everyone.”

Allen has been solid of late

Jim Thomas: “Since Nov. 14, a period of 18 games for Jake Allen: 2.38 GAA, .919 save %”

Tim Trokey: “Jake Allen has allowed 3 goals or fewer in 15 of 18 games dating back to November 14th. His 2.38 GAA during that span is 5th best in the NHL.”

Jeremy Rutherford: St. Louis Blues coach Craig Berube on goaltender Jake Allen: “He’s been really solid for over a month now for me. He’s given us a chance to win every night. He’s aggressive, he’s challenging, he’s confident right now, and we’re playing good in front of him, too, on most nights.”

A couple milestones for Sharks players last night

San Jose Sharks PR: Forward Tomas Hertl records his 200th point last night.

NHL Public Relations: “Brent Burns is the 10th player in NHL history, and third defensemen, to score the game-winning goal while skating in his 1,000th career game. The others: Chris Phillips (Feb. 9, 2012) and Fredrik Olausson (Dec. 11, 2002).”

San Jose Sharks PR: “Since debuting in 2003-04, Burns leads all blueliners in points (601), ranks second in goals (186) and fourth in assists (415). Among Sharks defensemen all-time, Burns is the franchise leader in goals (131), assists (287) and points (418).”

NHL Public Relations: Brent Burns is the sixth player from the 2003 class to skate in 1,000 career regular-season games and third player this season (also Ryan Suter and Dion Phaneuf).

Stamkos on fire

Joe Smith: “Steven Stamkos’ 14 goals this month make it highest-scoring month in his career, even more than any month in his 60-goal season. Couple times he had tallied 12. Two more games in month too (Saturday and Monday)”

Pirri moving up Golden Knights record books despite little game action

Ryan The Hockey Guy: “As a member of the Golden Knights, Brandon Pirri has 7 goals. That puts him 4 goals shy now of top 10 in Franchise History. He’s played 6 total games.”
