NHL Power Rankings: 2016-17 Consensus Week 24
Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals

The Washington Capitals sit atop the NHL standings as well as our consensus NHL power rankings for week 24.

Despite all the injuries the Pittburgh Penguins have dealt with, and are currently dealing with, they continue to roll and come in at No. 2.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets are two of four teams with over 100 points so far (Caps and Pens the other two) and sit at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively.

The Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens and San Jose Sharks are all tied at No. 5.

The Colorado Avalanche find themselves once again at the bottom of our power rankings.

The Arizona Coyotes and New Jersey Devils are tied for 28th, and ahead of the Vancouver Canucks (No. 27) and Dallas Stars (No. 26).

** We used eight sources this week so we were able to drop the highest and lowest ranking from each team, then used six rankings to come up with our consensus.

** Money Pucks Rankings – Each team’s power ranking is based on their probability of beating an average NHL team. MoneyPuck’s win probability model is used to calculate these scores. Factors that go into the Power Score are also shown. Each factor is weighted to give more recent games more importance. Read more about how the rankings are calculated here.

To get our consensus NHL Power Rankings Week 24 point total, we awarded the top team 30 points, the second team 29 points, third team 28 points, etc.

** Keep in mind the dates the rankings were posted, and in some cases, they may have been submitted to their editors the day before it was posted. Different outlets use different factors in determining their rankings. **
